Our story began in the fall of 2014. Instead of studying for her final exams in veterinary school, Janina decided to procrastinate and spend some time signing up for a free dating website. Meanwhile, Natalie had just relocated to the suburbs of Chicago from bustling New York City and had also decided to join the same website to meet new people. After several laughter-filled emails and text messages, they decided to finally meet for their first date at the Violet Hour. After talking about anything and everything, they realized that they had just spent over 4 hours talking to each other. It did not take long until they became each other’s favorite person to talk to, and this is true even until today.
Natalie and her best friends decided to meet up at the Violet Hour for their monthly girls’ night. While they were seated in their booth, her friends finally revealed that it was not just another girls’ night. Janina has requested that they individually write a love letter to Natalie stating what she meant to them and why they loved her. Each of them went around and read their letter to her. At this point, Natalie obviously knew: that night was THE night she had been waiting for. Her friends soon departed the table and Natalie expected Janina to join her, but instead more letters were to come. Natalie's mom and brother sat down and read their own love letters to her. When they left, her father and stepmom joined her to read their love letters to her. Finally, Janina joined her at the table. She then took out a prayer letter that she had written to God before she even met Natalie and had tucked away in her Bible many years ago. In it, she described the perfect woman for her to build a future with. While reading the letter aloud, it was even more evident that Natalie was the woman Janina had been praying to find for so many years. Janina continued, telling Natalie what she meant to her, why she loved her, and what she promised for their future together. She told her she could not promise that their love would always be easy or effortless, but she promised to work on learning how to choose to love Natalie better every day for the rest of her life. Then she put a ring on it.
