I was working as a waitress at a neighborhood bar late one night when Jake showed up with some friends. Too shy to talk to me himself, his friends helped him get my number. Directly after leaving the bar, Jake texted me and asked me out on a date the next day. On that first date, we kept finding things to do as we were too enamored to want the night to end, and the rest, as they say, is history.
We got engaged on a day trip to see the fall foliage in the mountains. While driving Guanella Pass between Grant and Georgetown, we stopped to take some cheesy couples pictures in the woods. Since no one was around to take our picture, Jake suggested setting up my camera to video and using the video for pictures. We did a couple different poses for the 'gram, and when I went to turn off the camera Jake told me to leave it on because he wanted one more picture. I left the camera recording and asked him what picture he wanted. He said, "this one," and got down on one knee.
We both have a spirit of adventure and the desire to be outside exploring whenever we can. Often we take off for mountain adventures on a whim and have no problem spending the day taking turns based on intuition. The two of us decided that we wanted our marriage to start off intimate, adventurous, and close to nature. We will exchange our vows on the same pass where we got engaged, but will be ready to celebrate with all our friends and family that same evening!
