Flight
We do have a regional airport in Roanoke that has flights through Delta, American and United Airlines. For Natalie's family likely flying out of Kansas City, there are no direct flights. American Airlines looks to be the most cost effective with plane tickets around $450 - $500 round trip for 11/3 - 11/5. A cheaper option may be to fly in Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia (3.5 hour drive) or Charlotte International in North Carolina (3 hour drive) and rent a vehicle to drive. We also have an Amtrak Station in Roanoke. Check out the Dulles & Charlotte Airport options to see Amtrak options!
Train
There are three stations within a 30 minute cab/Uber ride. We recommend using the Manassas Station. USUALLY, there is a 9am (arrives in Roanoke at 1:15pm) and 6pm (arrives in Roanoke at 10pm) train on weekdays. This is the route we are most familiar with, but does take longer than flying directly into Roanoke or driving from Charlotte.
Flight
Charlotte is only a three hour drive from Roanoke! If flying into Charlotte we definitely recommend renting a vehicle and driving up to Roanoke (it's a gorgeous drive!). Greyhound bus is slow and unpredictable on that route. Amtrak trains require a change of trains and can take up to 16 hours... so not the best route.
