Elijah was minding his own business in his basketball shorts when his mom came in the room to inform him about the guests coming over. "Ok, cool... do they have any kids?" he asked out of curiosity. "Yeah, three girls. Their parents are old friends of ours," was the answer. "What are the girls' ages?" he wanted to know. "Oh, around 10, 16, and 17? Somewhere around your guy's ages." His mom then left the room, and Elijah thought to himself, there are opportunities here... I should wear jeans. Meanwhile, I had no idea who this family was, only that they were old friends of my parents, though they didn't even know each other that well. Dinner was awkward. I thought to myself, after this night is over, will we ever see these people again? I know that we will eventually be moving to the area and plan to go to the same church, but this is still a little awkward. Although... their oldest son does kind of reminds me of my dad. Nah, I don't like him; he's blonde and blue-eyed. Then, when the night was over, I learned we were going to move down in a month as opposed to the orginal plan of 6 or more months. Once we moved down, the Ko family immediately helped us get plugged into Grace Community Church and invited us to the Bible study hosted at their house. With this and regular Monday night dinners, our families became very close. And all the while this was happening, I was trying to convince myself that I did not like this guy, even though we quickly became friends. Elijah on the other hand... figured it out way before I did, and made it obvious he was interested every chance he could. When I finally admitted to myself that I was interested in this green-eyed (not blue-eyed) person who was so passionate about the Bible, it took several months of praying and trusting the Lord on my part before Elijah surprised me with his first move. Though neither of us were ready to start dating (I was just a month under 17 and he had turned 18 a few months prior), we both knew and saw the other's interest. We agreed to intentionally get to know each other as friends in the meantime. Seven months later, we had our first date. Eight months after that, he proposed! And here I am writing the story of how we met for our wedding website.
