Citrus County Florida is known for its sprawling natural spring system that houses many unique plants and animals including the West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus), the Anhinga bird (Anhinga anhinga), the Mojarra fish (Eucinostamus harengulus) and plenty of plants, even native air plants!

Many hiking trails ranging from easy to hard can be found nearby, we recommend using the app AllTrails!

Visiting the freshwater springs is a must for this area! The closest spring is Crystal River, approximately 20 minutes away. Freshwater emerges from the Earth pressurized from the groundwater system at exactly 72F creating a unique ecosystem that eventually flows to the Gulf of Mexico.
