Natalie was living a quiet life in her North Center apartment. Sound would travel from unit to unit, but it was fairly typical for Chicago living. That is, until Chris moved in above her. She brushed off the heavy upstairs footsteps and late night pacing. But the day she woke to Chris and his buddies singing the Star Spangled Banner at 3am - that was enough. Decked out in her pajamas, Natalie went upstairs to reprimand Chris for his late night, patriotic singing. Chris thought the best way to remedy the situation was to invite her in for a drink. Needless to say, she declined. She followed up the next day with a passive aggressive email asking him to keep it down after 12pm on weekends - sharing her phone number so they could text when one neighbor was being too loud. As Chris would say "eight ball, corner pocket." Chris took her number, but used it to text her Bob Dylan Youtube videos, invite her up for after hours, and apologize for staying up so late because he had to "brush his teeth because his brother was a dentist." As their neighborly friendship grew, Natalie's annoyance waned. One day, they ran into each other and Chris invited to watch the upcoming Marquette game with friends. Natalie accepted and Chris panicked, because he hadn't invited anyone over. He sent out a SOS email, calling in "the friendship card," for his friends to come over. His friends showed - Natalie did not. Naturally, Chris texted Natalie for after hours later and confessed his feelings. While Natalie was unsure at first, she suggested a date and quickly embraced his questionable jokes, witty sense of humor and realized how much they had in common. They now live in Lincoln Square and spend their time slow dancing to vinyl records, playing darts and listening to hot jams, finding new ways to spoil their dog, and wondering how they got so lucky.
