There is a block of rooms reserved for our guests at the Marriott in Research Park, which is conveniently close to Red Butte Garden. These are available for $99 per night for our guests. Please see the Travel page for details. There are also a number of lovely Air BnB’s all around town for any size group. If choosing this option, we advise looking in the following neighborhoods/areas, which are close to the venue: the Avenues, Sugarhouse, Liberty Wells, University, Princeton & Yale, Foothill, the East Bench, Downtown, Capitol/Marmalade, and 9th & 9th.
Honestly, it could snow in the morning and then be 75 and sunny by mid afternoon! During the day, May is warm and mild. But bring a jacket for the evening, as temps can drop here at night.
We are so fortunate to be loved by so many people, but if everyone brought a +1, we would need to rent out the State Capitol! We ask that only people whose names are explicitly listed on the invitation come to our celebration. Thank you for understanding.
We love kiddos, but this is a big party. Please leave the little ones with a baby-sitter.
Not-too-formal, garden party, easy-breezy. Think sundresses, linen, khakis, bow ties. Sandals are welcome for all. Hawaiian shirts are also fully acceptable.
There is TONS of parking at Red Butte Garden, so that should not be an issue. Signs will direct you from the parking lot to the ceremony.
This is NOT a dry state (or a dry wedding!). Here are a few rules that out-of-towners may appreciate knowing in advance: Grocery stores sell beer, but it’s all 3.2%. You can get full-strength stuff at the liquor store. At restaurants and bars, all beers on draft are also 3.2%, but you can order bottles/cans that are “normal”. You will be reprimanded if you try to carry your own drink from the bar to your table at a restaurant, the waiters have to do that for you. Liquor stores are closed on Sundays. Lastly, and perhaps most unfortunately, our liquor stores don’t sell those cute little airplane bottles. Everything else is pretty much the same here!
