We met at church when we were both youth leaders. Funnily enough, I had been friends with his brother for two years before I ever met him. Amazing how the person who can change your world forever really can be just around the corner. A few months had passed when were walking to our cars, after hanging out with friends, and he asked me to go on a date with him. I said yes and then I ran away… well I ran to go find a friend who was lost and couldn’t find her car. But I promise I ran right back after. Our first date originally began with me studying at a coffee shop, when Lee offered to come and work remote with me. This was the best idea because our brains were so in sync with our interests, discussions on scientific theories, jokes, and our opinions, that we ended up talking for five hours! This was not as great for my actual studying that day, but I definitely believe it was worth it; dontcha think? We would then go on to many adventures, car conversations, church events, movie nights, Disney magic, and lengthy book discussions over the next year. Then comes the engagement! Lee planned the perfect surprise proposal surrounded by our families on the Fourth of July. After he composed the best firework display ever, he pretended to have burnt himself and called me over. As I looked over his perfectly non-burned finger, the car trunk opened and light shimmered out into the darkness. There I saw rose petals, a heart, and giant letters. He then began to ask me my favorite question ever spoken. I was in shock and awe and I was so excited to say yes. We were so caught up in the moment, that he forgot to put the ring on my finger so our families started to yell out that exact command. It was then that I saw the most beautiful ring that he had custom designed himself; which included a book and a cross (excuse me?!). Bring on the tears and the snorts of excited laughter. We are both so excited to get married and start our life as newlyweds, but we can’t wait to spend it with all of you. Our favorite people all in one place is a true blessing.
