Krakow -about a 2 hour drive from where the wedding is Rzeszow- about a 30 minute drive Warsaw- 3 1/2 hour drive
Here are some websites we use for rental cars: Get them from the airports Don’t add on unnecessary coverage when physically picking them up, that’s how you get overcharged. Just do it all online before and say no when they ask you in person. Get AAA driving permit it’s about 36 dollars.
Driving in Poland you go by km not mph. Do not speed there are stops with cameras that take pictures and will send you a ticket but be aware that the speed can change from 50km to 70km back to 50 very quickly. There is a huge passing culture, where cars or trucks will pass you to get ahead just be careful and let them pass don’t feel like you’re going too slow. Do NOT drink and drive even if it’s one beer. In America you can have one or two drinks and still be able to drive where as in Poland there is 000 limit. Very strict on that. Use Apple or Google Maps to get places. You pump your own gas.
The currency is złoty just don’t exchange at the airport, that exchange rate is awful. There are better ones when you get to the area of the hotel. Look for the exchange rate online to get to a place as close as possible to it. You can pay for lots of things with Apple Pay usually visa is used, but when you click which currency to pay in always choose Polish ZŁ and not USD. You’ll get more bang for your buck. The currency at times is $1 for 4 zł so take advantage of that !
We are setting up vans to pick everyone up from the hotel to the venue, it’s about 10 minutes away. They’ll also be taking people back to the hotel as well. Just need to get to the church by car first and then go back to the hotel and the vans will be ready.
Where we are from I would say the older generation does not speak much English so look for someone younger that could or use chat gbt or google translate to get by. Stick to someone that speaks both languages around you to make your life easier. It’s easier to get by in Krakow or Warsaw as those are tourist hubs.
You can’t call Polish numbers from your US phone, we recommend using whatsapp, messenger, telegram, or just insta dm. WiFi is your best friend.
This is tough because it is a Sunday and people charge more for Sunday as it is a “day of rest” but I will try to link some instagrams or booksy ones. Message me if you need help.
