Pozo de Jacinto
The Pozo de Jacinto near Jobos Beach in Isabela, Puerto Rico, is a natural sinkhole or coastal cave that has become a popular landmark. According to the legend, Jacinto was a farmer who owned a cow that he loved dearly. One day, while he was tending to his cow near the beach, a powerful storm hit the area, and Jacinto was swept away by the violent waves. Desperate to save his cow, Jacinto tried to protect it but they tragically drowned in the waters. When visiting el Pozo de Jacinto yell out "Jacinto, dame la vaca!" to see a display of the ocean waves crash into the hole, creating dramatic spurts of water that shoot into the air for a beautiful and impressive display.
El Mirador de Guajataca
El Mirador de Guajataca is a scenic viewpoint located in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico, offering stunning views of the Guajataca Lake and the surrounding lush, mountainous landscapes. The term "mirador" translates to "lookout" or "viewpoint," and this spot is popular for its breathtaking panoramic views of both the lake and the beautiful northern coastline of Puerto Rico. The name might sound familiar because we'll be getting married at Hotel el Guajataca. If you noticed the drawing on the back of the invite you'll see El Tunel de Guajataca. The tunnel was constructed in 1904 and it crosses the mountain that separates Playa Guajataca from Playa Mirador. In 2000, it was declared a Historical Monument and it is one of the most visited spots in this part of the Island. Take a walk through the tunnel and discover the history and the many surprises it has in store for you.
Cara del Indio
Welcoming every visitor to the town of Isabela is the impressive rock sculpture of the Cacique (chief) Mabodamaca. When driving along the route #2, on your way to the west coast, pay close attention as this landmark can be easy to pass by. The Taíno people were the indigenous inhabitants of Puerto Rico and many other islands in the Caribbean before the arrival of Columbus and European colonization in the late 15th century. It is believed by some to resemble the face of a Taíno chief or warrior, representing a connection to the island's indigenous heritage.
Jobos Beach
Jobos beach is a favorite with locals and a must-visit spot on the town of Isabela. Whether you're a surfer, a fan of paddleboarding or you simply want to lay under the sun, this beach is for you.
