Fun fact: We've been dating for 7 years but have known each other for almost 9. We went to Longwood University and met through a mutual friend, Devante. We saw each other occasionally throughout school, running in parallel circles, but we never spent much time together directly. It wasn't until senior year, right before graduation that we finally said 'hello.' It all started with a dance, and then after graduation over the summer of 2015 we started dating. The rest, as they say, is history!
After a tumultuous 2020, Tom kicked the new year off right and proposed on New Years, January 1, 2021. The How? Very "on-brand" for the two of us. Our New Years Eve plans were for a quiet night in: pajamas, board games, Chinese food. On the day of the proposal, I ended up spending some time away, unknowingly cutting into our day-of proposal time. Tom was so patient! He put the ring in my champagne glass to present at the New Years' countdown toast. It took me a little while to discover it, but once I did I was stunned! Typical Tom just stood there, looking at me and and laughing. Our exchange went something like: "Well!? Are you going to actually ask the question?" "Oh, yeah well...d'ya wanna get married?" "OF COURSE!" Like I said, very us, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
