We first met at a bonfire for Family Home Evening. I had noticed Grant at church the week before, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Then, at the FHE activity, I saw him again. Curious, I asked one of my guy friends what his name was. He casually said, “Oh, that’s Grant.” My friend and I spotted him playing a little game of mini golf, so we walked over to strike up a conversation. When I asked his name, he introduced himself as “Christian”—which, as it turns out, is his real first name (he just goes by his middle name, Grant). For a moment, I thought he was messing with me, and I was a little confused! We chatted for a bit, and later that night, Grant, our guy friend, and I made plans to go to the driving range the next day. And so, we did. As it turned out, it ended up being just the three of us. (Mind you, I may have skipped class just because I thought Grant was way too cute and I wanted to get to know him better.) The whole time at the range, Grant and I couldn’t stop talking. He even gave me a few golf tips, which was honestly adorable. Eventually, our guy friend left, and Grant and I stood by our cars, lost in conversation for another hour and a half. When we finally said goodbye, we left without exchanging numbers. But as I sat in my car, I thought, You know what? What the heck. So, I backed out, pulled up next to him, rolled down my window, and asked for his number. From that day on, we hung out every single day—and the rest is history. A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN.
