About The Couple

The Bride's POV: I knew Scott was “the one” when he taught me how to tie my shoes the “right way” at the age of 21, just as we were starting to date. With my ADHD, I often struggle with tasks that others find simple, & tying my shoes was one of those things. I had always tied them with double bunny ears, but he took the time to patiently explain each step, understanding my quirks and how I do things differently. That small gesture spoke volumes about his kindness and support,& in that moment, I realized how much he truly cared. It wasn’t just about tying shoes; it was about feeling valued & loved for who I am. The Groom's POV: I knew Claire was “the one” for me after the very first time she helped me move in Iowa City. As you may know, I’m usually a pretty bad procrastinator, so packing and moving out was quite the task. She stayed up all night with me, helping me pack up all my belongings and get everything into storage until my new lease began. Claire goes above and beyond not just for me but for everyone in her life, always putting others first. She has this incredible ability to bring joy and light to every situation, making even the toughest tasks feel manageable.

Our Engagement Story

Engagement 10/11/2024

Scott and I started dating on August 13th 2016. We had just had our 8 year anniversary on 08/13/2024. I went and looked at rings just for fun that month and made a wishlist with our good friend Hannah Lemon (Scott’s best man’s amazing wife at Siebke Hoyt Jewlers) I didn’t think Scott would actually get in there so quick and make this dream become a reality! I had asked Hannah in September if Scott had bought anything and she was like “he’s been in to see me and that’s all you need to know.” Lol so I was like alright sounds good. I’ll quit pestering. So weeks went by and This past fall on 10/11/2024, Scott knew that most of my siblings were coming to town for the weekend. I had repeatedly told him, “Whenever you do pop the question whether it’s this year or 5 years from now, please don’t do it on a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas.” He respected my wishes, and I had no idea that everything was about to unfold right after I got off work from a week-long pet-sitting gig!
