Nash and I met during the police academy in October of 2022. We both felt drawn to each other pretty quickly and we friend zoned eachother just as quick. For the next 6 months we spent our time teasing and competing with one another, aside from Nash occasionally joking about picking me up in a limo so we could finally go out on a date (never happened). One night we went out for a friends birthday, and while our friends were socializing, Nash and I were having the most ridiculous dance battle ever. That night made us realize how much more enjoyable life would be together. The next day we met up for ice cream and that was the start of something truly amazing!!!
I realized Nash was the one after we spent our first horrible 4th of July together. It started with us taking a 15 minute ride on a smelly school bus to a large field. After a very unimpressive and long awaited firework show, we began our 3 hour journey home. Long story short, uber drivers kept canceling because they couldn't find their way to us through the roadblocks and crowd. We were starving because the lines at the event were too long to get food and our phones were about to die. By the time we found a ride, Nash had to be up for work in less than 5 hours. Throughout the night, Nash kept a positive attitude and never showed any frustration. It was always important to me to find a partner who was in control of their emotions but Nash's ability to remain positive in such a frustrating situation was incredible.
I knew Jasmine was the one early on in our relationship, during a walk at Lake Johnson. We both had cat backpacks on, each carrying one of our cats. A lot of my friends would always tease me about taking my cats on walks but Jasmine didnt hesitate to join in. As silly as it may sound, that moment really showed me how down to earth she was and it made me even more comfortable with her.
Jasmine and I agreed quickly that we wanted to get married and spend our lives together. About a year into our relationship we went to get her ring size and vision for her ring so when I was ready to propose, I knew what to get. I made it clear to Jasmine that it'd be awhile before I proposed however a few days later, I went back and had them start building the ring Jasmine had customized. I talked to mine and Jasmines family to let them know my plans and receive their blessings. I waited two months for the ring to be ready and then with the help of my sister Kelly, I began planning the proposal. She gave me more ideas than I knew what to do with but with a trip to my hometown already planned, I decided to do it at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens. We then celebrated with my family afterwards at Niagara Falls.
