Imani and Naphtali’s story - from the beginning - read the way our favorite classics do. A spark in the eye, a tilt of the head, a shy but confident first move, and then the moment that would mark the rest of their lives. And as millennial classics would have it - it started with a sliiiiide in the DMs. Imani is a Brooklyn girl through and through--she’s got a hustler’s heart with savvy, and is a straight shooter if ever there was one. So when she ‘saw’ Naph’s profile, read his expressions of art and heart, she knew the move was hers to make. And so she did -- confidently, quickly with just the right coyness to make it interesting. But then there was nothing. One day passed. Then three. A whole week? And while Imani was disappointed, she was never a quitter. So she circled and slid again and this time, she made it clear. Two messages later, Naph’s nature - steady and easy-paced as the Mississippi currents tapping the shores of his Rock Island hometown - explained it easily and with a humble regard: he simply hadn’t seen it. A phone upgrade and a pardon request later, once they connected - (and with a six-hour first phone call - did they ever!) the story unfolded with the kind of ease and depth that evidenced their shared ear to Heaven. God spoke, they surrendered, and it was known to them both: this one was different. Gifted with the presence of the other just in time for the holidays, Naph asked Imani to be his girlfriend in the final hours of 2023 and welcomed ‘24 with the one who’s embrace and aroma secured the part of him that made big decisions easy. He knew he loved her. He knew he’d move to be with her. He knew that Imani was the one with whom he’d do…forever. After six months of car charges and four-hour trips up I-35, Naph moved. Dallas was home. For Imani, Naph’s heart was. Their love became her living, breathing promise of Psalm 27:13. From the scripture that anchored hope in Imani’s singleness, to the whisper that foretold Naph that home would require a move, this pair had heard God during their separate journeys. They were confident that the other existed, even without evidence. So when their initial hellos hit the crisp December air on their first date, they recognized His yes in the tenor of the sweet exchange. On January 31, after a year of deep intention, exploration, hearty laughter, a loving community, and the faith to lean into the story that Heaven always knew, Naph welcomed Imani to the most sacred of exchanges, with the invitation to say “I Do.” As they bask in the journey of a Farley love unfolding, their prayer for their community of loved ones is this: that each person knows deeply that God weaves together the most intricate details and delights in His children's joy. It is His nature to generously love us all into a destiny designed just for us, if only we trust, believe, and receive.
