To travel to Dominica, you'll need: A valid passport, Proof of an onward or return ticket, Confirmation of accommodation, Evidence of your ability to maintain yourself, and completion of the online immigration form on the (https://edcard.dominica.gov.dm/) for arrival and departure. You can get to Dominica from the United States and Canada by connecting through Miami International Airport or other Caribbean hubs. American Airlines offers daily non-stop flights to Dominica from Miami on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Things to consider when traveling to Dominica: 1. Departure tax of EC $86 (USD $33) when leaving Dominica, but children under 12 are exempt. 2. Safety - Exercise normal precautions, and consider enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive alerts. 3. Health - The CDC recommends avoiding contaminated water and soil, bug bites, and rodents. 4. Driving - If you plan to drive, arrange a car rental ahead of time and show your driving license to get a temporary Dominican driving license. Roads can be narrow and in poor condition, and there are few to no road/traffic signs. 5. Transportation - There are no buses on Sundays and public vacations, and very few on a Saturday afternoon. Hitchhiking is safe and an option. Some things to do in Dominica include rainforest treks or hikes, island tours, visit the beach, visiting historic spots, eating local cuisine and relaxing at a Sulphur spring spa.
