It all began in the spring of 2015 when Sarkis was in Arizona for spring training, and Naomi was a college student bartending at a local restaurant that Sarkis frequented (despite his claim of disliking the food there, which piqued curiosity about his regular visits). They started seeing each other casually, but due to the transient nature of baseball life, Sarkis would leave Arizona after the six-week training period. Over the next few years, they would reconnect during subsequent spring trainings. Fast forward to 2019, when Sarkis was temporarily staying in Arizona due to baseball injuries. During this time, their relationship deepened, and Sarkis began spending most weekends at Naomi’s place in Scottsdale. As time passed, Sarkis made the decision to transition from professional baseball and run the family business in New Jersey. As Naomi dropped him off at the airport in Phoenix, they faced an uncertain future. A few weeks later, Sarkis asked Naomi to relocate to New Jersey and move in with him. After Naomi graduated from ASU a couple of months later, she sold all her belongings in Scottsdale and bought a one-way ticket to Newark. Since then, they have shared a home in North Jersey, and in 2020, they welcomed Tyson, their beloved fur baby, into the family.
