Rewind to a crisp December evening in 2013 - the wedding anniversary of Elizabeth and David Mayers no less – when we met in a bar in the heart of London. A short optimal window, when Peter was at his most charming (according to Ben and Simon) and Naomi at her most receptive, led to phone numbers exchanged... Our first date in a pub in south London's Borough, with live music and the discovery that we shared the same birthday, 9 April 1986. "It's meant to be," she thought. "Do I really want to share my birthday?" he wondered. Our second date in Islington, north of the river this time, was more like 4 dates rolled into one - A French bistro, a quirky film, cocktails at Colebrooke Row, followed by dancing at the Lexington, all squeezed in before the Atlantic separated us for 2 weeks. Still, Judy and Steve Jones did wonder, who is this American skyping with their daughter over Christmas? And yes, what are the chances that Peter's mother and his wife-to-be would share the same maiden name! Another "sign" for her, "a pretty common surname," he mused. The London dates continued into the new year before our first weekend away to Cambridge and a sunny stroll to the Orchard at Grantchester, then Rome and the first "I love you’s." Moments together at our flat on Hartham Road but also moments apart with work trips to Africa & Burma or adventures exploring South East Asia. Family holidays in Saluda and Nevis and windy-wet Ogmore. The coming together of the clans during summer BBQ's and Thanksgiving. Not to mention the many memorable evenings with friends in London, Boston, Oxford, Swampscott, Compton Abdale, Paris, Walloon, Stockholm, Luxembourg, Cannes, San Sebastian and Norfolk. A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic on our anniversary, a river side table at Skylon, champagne ordered with pudding before she finally catches on... "Of course I'll marry you!" This is our story so far! We can't wait for what's next and to share this very special celebration with our nearest and dearest!
