For the History Nerds
The Chicago Architecture Center is the best place to explore many Chicago Buildings. After the great fire in 1871 (Thanks Mrs. O'Leary and her cow), the architects of the time introduced innovative approaches to building and design. Burnham and Root, being the most famous architecture firm of the time, designed buildings for the 1893 World Columbian Exposition (World Fair). The Museum of Science and Industry (Naomi's favorite Museum) in the Hyde Park neighborhood was part of the Fair's "White City". The Rookery building, the Monadnock building, and the Macy's on State street were all built at that time. You can read more about Burham and Root (and one of Chicago's most infamous serial killer) in The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson.
It's called Sears, not Willis. Sky Deck offers you an opportunity to see Chicago from the highest building we have! Great for those of you brave enough to step in a glass box 412 Meters above the ground - not so much for those afraid of heights.
360 Chicago offers you another beautiful view of the entire city at our second most famous building in the City.
The main part of Chicago with the Cloud Gate sculpture (known as "The Bean")
Top Chicago tourist destination! Home of the original ferris wheel. Originally built for the 1893 World Columbian Exposition, the original ferris wheel could fit up to 50 people in each car, and lasted 20 minutes per ride. It may be fright fest for Halloween! If so, they usually have a pretty good haunted house.
Meet T-Rex Sue and Titanosaur Maximo!
If you take the steps down towards the Lake, you can get a pretty wicked view of the entire Chicago skyline with Lake Michigan in the foreground. Growing up, Naomi and her sister called this "the spot," the same place where Naomi's sister Emma got engaged to her Husband Ivan.
Naomi's FAVORITE museum. Yes, she dragged Eoin there and he thought it was pretty cool.
Features a gorgeous Tiffany's glass dome.
Tickets are on sale NOW for October. If you don't get tickets but still want to go, there are loads of free (no tickets needed) activities to do around the building itself.
