Colton and I met in a leadership class held at our church and were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. We hit it off right away! We both had horses and decided to becoming trail riding buddies. We spent the next month spending a lot of time together riding, talking about life, and getting to know each other. Our first "date" was to the county fair to see the rodeo. While we were on the ferris wheel, Colton decided to start the DTR (define the relationship) conversation, where I quickly ended the conversation with, "You're a really great friend." Yep. He got friend-zoned.
Though Colton got "friend zoned" in the summer, he still continued to pursue getting to know me while he was finishing up his senior year at Texas A&M (Gig Em Aggies!). We talked quite a bit through text message and phone calls. We planned to hang out while he came home for Christmas break. Colton had gotten his wisdom teeth taken out so I planned to hang out with him to watch movies and eat ice cream all day. We had fun hanging out together and then we had "the talk." We decided that we actually really enjoyed each others company and decided to see where things could go. We spent every day together while he was home for break and found out we actually really liked each other. We casually slipped into the "dating stage" and decided to do long distance while he went back to school.
Colton had talked about his sister-in-law, Emily, wanting to take couple pictures of us and his horses and so I agreed right away when Colton asked me to come over Monday morning for a photoshoot. Monday morning was hectic for me because I slept past my alarm and had family in town. I almost canceled on him because I felt rushed but boy I sure am happy I didn't. I arrived to his house 20 minutes late and we hopped on the horses to head over to a beautiful field next to his house. As we rode through a beautiful threshold of trees, Colton told me to get off of the horse and next thing I knew he was on his knee asking me to marry him! It was a dream! Of course, I said YES!
