Carter would like to credit Ella, her English degree, and excellent personal statement editing skills with getting Carter into medical school, but more importantly, her friendship and support for getting him through everything he had to do in college to get there.

It took Naomi and Nina, two strong introverts, over 6 months of working together before they finally got the nerve to test the waters of outside-the-workplace friendship. But once they did, both they and their respective partners were inseparable!

When a local elementary school music teacher "Ms. Donahue" emailed the WashU Music in Medicine group seeking a pianist for the school's upcoming Christmas concert, Carter never anticipated he would be met with a mid-20's gal wearing Chacos and a New Hampshire t-shirt. Nor would he anticipate that she and her fiancé Michael would become some of their closest friends in St. Louis! Bonus fun fact: Carter worked in Emma’s small hometown when living in New Hampshire, and Naomi and Carter went apple picking right down the street from where she grew up!

Carter had been friends with Madeline for months when she interviewed him for a position in Tulane's Undergraduate Student Government. Despite their friendship, he remembers it being more nerve-racking than most of his medical school interviews - because he knows Madeline relentlessly challenges him to strive for excellence in everything he does. Carter hopes to become half of the leader she is, one day.

Talia and Naomi overlapped all the time in the adolescent Jewish Sacramento scene, but never knew each other before Talia met Carter for a prospective medical student “coffee chat,” and thereafter lasso’d Carter to WashU. To this role, Talia brings her expertise in curated playlists, applying a Pinegrove lyric to all of life’s twists and turns, and throwing it down harder than a middle school Valentine's Day dance.

Naomi thought she had finally made a non-medical friend in Nina, but little did she know that Nina came with her badass doctor wife. Three of Carter's highlights of medical school are as follows: 1. Operating with and learning from Annessa, one of his closest friends 2. The hike with Annessa when, after an immeasurable amount of support, patience, and mentorship from her, he decided to apply into OB/GYN 3. All of the lovely non-medical conversations and hiking/camping/rafting trips they have shared together!

Carter misses Keenan dearly since his move to Connecticut, but he knows Keenan is doing incredible work as the type of teacher and coach Carter wishes he had growing up. From drinking whiskey on the porch to double dinner/ice cream dates with Keenan and his lovely fiancée Clara, Carter appreciates Keenan for being one of the most genuine, kind men in his life.
