We met at one of the Forest Preserves near Tinley Park. Bruce was at some sort of group meeting. I had arrived, only, to help a friend - LaRhonda. I was there for just a minute; and, I didn't think much of it. Some time later, Bruce gave me a call. He wanted to hang out for dinner. I agreed. Yet, the date was a disaster... He felt so guilty. So, he asked me for a redo. I agreed, because, I believe in second chances. Nonetheless, in my head, I said, " You only get one more shot". LOL. To my surprise, he stepped up to the plate. And has been doing so ever since. Thank God for second chances.
Being at the top of Lake Point Towers is an event in itself. The view of the city and of Lake Michigan can be breathtaking. With such a marvelous setting, asking the woman I love to be my wife could not have been more appropriate. The presence of close friends and relatives, in addition, added to the joy of the event. The plan for the engagement surprise was well thought out. I was set to pick up Nanine at about 5:15 on Monday night. However, using an irresponsible act such as "running late" as a diversion, Nanine was driven to Cite Restaurant by her mother and high school friend - Ronald. As the two of us enjoyed dinner and each others company, our friends and relatives gathered to surprise her. They also watched me get on one knee; read a poem; and propose to her. The other patrons in the restaurant enjoyed the moment as well. The evening concluded with several lovely pictures being taken. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you.
