Aditya knew that on their first date, when he came back from the bathroom and Nandini was sitting there doing a New York Times crossword, this was going to be special. For the next hour or so, they struggled hard (though he blames the wine and she blames it being a Wednesday) to figure out clues such as "Like an epic fail (awful), or Jaded Feeling (ennui)". Afterwards, being the good money conscious 24 year olds they were, they called uber pools home, assuming their cars would independently come and take them to their respective houses. Instead, to both of their embarrassment, they got matched in the same uber pool, with a third rando. The next 20 minutes or so was spent in awkward silence as Aditya sat in the front seat, with Nandini and the rando in the back. Frankly, it's a shock there was a second date.
Nandini and Aditya land in Iceland for a friend's wedding and a week of gazing out at the beautiful landscape. Their flight is an *extremely loud* and *incredibly cold* red-eye and Nandini's mood reflects those realities. Aditya has the ring burning in his pocket and texts his best friends to wish him good luck. They set out to drive to Thingvellir National Park and Nandini's mood instantly improves. It's hard to be mad when the landscape is so unbelievable. They pull over to admire the view and Aditya takes out his trusty tripod that accompanies the couple on most trips. He sets up the camera and Nandini makes funny faces while he focuses the lens. He sets the timer and then jogs over to join Nandini. 30 seconds later the camera hasn't clicked. Aditya rummages through his pockets for a remote and pulls out a ring box instead. Nandini immediately starts crying. Turns out the camera was recording a video the whole time.
To celebrate our love, we married in a small ceremony on October 25, 2020 and are so glad that many of you could join us over Zoom. While no one anticipated the events of the past year, we are overwhelmed with the love and joy that each and every one of you shared with us. We can't wait to celebrate this November!
