We met on social media in the most bizarre way. Roberto was running a marketing campaign on Instagram to promote his online business while he was in San Diego, which helped pre-medical students get paired with a mentor. Turns out, I was one of those students...but the message I first received was from a chatbot! Once Roberto personally reached out, eventually he started mentoring me. And it just clicked. At the beginning, we were black and white. Then he moved to Boston, and after a few months of mentoring, we harmonized by accident. That’s pretty much when we thought, "Okay. This could be something." He then one day asked me out on a date while on vacation in San Diego, and once he decided to move back after his graduation, we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend on July 14, 2019.
On our fourth anniversary since becoming a couple, we organized a day trip to Temecula for an impromptu wine tour. When we arrived at the second winery, we were greeted with champagne and escorted to the patio. After being handed a ring-shaped, hand-written card and our song "Perfect For Me" suddenly started playing, I looked over and peeked at a gigantic heart-shaped arch frame overlooking the sunset. Next thing I know, I was surrounded by candles and rose petals, and he was down on one knee. I screamed, shouted "YES," and we were engaged. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in San Diego!
