How do I arrive at Roaring Camp Railroads?

Answer

Roaring Camp Railroads is located in Felton, California and is mainly accessible through Highway 17. While we don't expect rain the day of the wedding, the challenge with the latter months in the year is that if it rains, it can cause heavy delays, if not road closures, on Highway 17 going either north or south. We implore guests to stay in one of the hotels in the Scotts Valley / Santa Cruz area starting Thursday, October 27th, or plan ahead and leave early enough to avoid the possibility of missing the train that takes us to our ceremony. If for whatever reason Highway 17 is closed, an alternative route is taking Highway 9 through Saratoga. The highway cuts through the Santa Cruz Mountains and takes you to the very front of the venue. We do not recommend this route in any other instance outside of Highway 17 being closed. Cell phone service can be spotty in the Santa Cruz Mountains at times. We advise people to map out the directions ahead of time in order for them to load and stay guiding you to Roaring Camp.

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

We are kindly asking guests to be at the venue and on the platform to board the train that will be taking us to our ceremony by at least 2:30 PM. The steam train departs at 3:15 PM sharp and will unfortunately leave anyone who isn't on time behind for the ceremony.

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Roaring Camp requires us to provide a final head count for guests and we would ideally like to be ahead of schedule with that and would appreciate if guests RSVP before September 15th.

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

We do! You can find information on them in the Lodging section of the site. The hotel room block is reserved from Thursday through Saturday morning. The closer you are to the venue, the better the entire experience will be :)

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There will be parking onsite and is included with the reservation. The park itself is open to the public so there may be cars onsite that do not belong to our guests. At the gate, let the attendant know you're there for the wedding, and they should let you by pass the parking fee.

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Yes, there is a dress code with some exceptions! We hope that everyone arrives in cocktail attire but seeing as Dia De Muertos and Halloween is a handful of days away from the wedding, it would be accepted if guests added themes from the holidays into their attire :) Another exception is footwear. We hope to keep it formal but comfy at the same time seeing as we're going to have to literally walk through the forest at some point and a lot of the trails are made of dirt. Our bridesmaids will be wearing a satin champagne dress and the groomsmen will be wearing emerald green velvet suits. Please refrain from wearing either of these colors. White dresses are strictly prohibited for everyone except the bride.

Can I bring a date?

If your invitation includes a plus one, then you may. Mosts guests are already accounted for but in the instance where they're not and you require one, please let us know to see if it's possible to find room in advance.

What type of alcohol will be served?

Answer

We will have plenty of beer, champagne, and wine :)

Will hard alcohol be allowed?

Answer

Hard alcohol / liquor is strictly prohibited on the Roaring Camp property whether it's in bottles or flasks. Do not bring any kind of hard alcohol to the venue. The venue reserves the right to take whatever action they deem necessary, including concluding the event without a refund, if they find hard alcohol being served.
