our engagement!
Jonathan and Nancy met at a party at the beginning of the school year, and their lives have been a party ever since! After that initial meeting, they went out for dinner, and Jonathan showed his thoughtfulness by paying for her meal. Later, they attended another party up in Provo Canyon, where they ended up stargazing and really getting to know each other. The next day, Nancy invited Jonathan to her church, even though he was already active in the church and had just returned from his mission. After attending her ward, Jonathan asked, "So when am I going to see you again?" Their first official date was two days later, and from that point on, they never stopped seeing each other. Jonathan and Nancy decided to be very prayerful and intentional during their dating period, seeking the Lord’s guidance to know if they should date with the purpose of marriage. At the end of the month, Nancy's family was coming to Utah for the general conference, and she asked Jonathan if he wanted to meet them. They had gone on three dates by this point and were not yet official, but Jonathan surprisingly agreed. For Nancy, it was important that her partner loved and accepted her siblings. When Enoc, her little brother, first saw Jonathan, he immediately gave him a hug and really liked him. Her sister also took a liking to Jonathan, talking to him more than she did to Nancy. After spending that weekend with her family and watching the conference, both Jonathan and Nancy had their prayers answered and felt it was right. Jonathan asked Nancy to officially be his girlfriend on October 3, 2023. A fun little detail: Enoc prays every day, including everyone in the family, and since meeting Jonathan, he has included him in his prayers. For their engagement, Jonathan flew down to Arizona at the end of January to ask for Nancy's father's blessing, so she knew a proposal was coming soon. On February 19, 2024, Jonathan took Nancy out to breakfast and other activities throughout the day. In the evening, he took her on a drive up Provo Canyon, where they had first met. During the drive, he played songs like "Marry Me" by Train and other similar songs. Nancy felt like the main character in a movie and started to cry tears of joy because she knew it was happening. Additionally, it started to rain, which has always been a symbol of God being pleased with her decisions. It has rained during significant moments in her life, such as when she was baptized, endowed, and went on her mission. In that moment, she knew that God supported their marriage and that He was happy, and she couldn't be happier. Once they arrived at the canyon, Jonathan had the proposal all set up and asked the big question. You can watch the video above to see that moment! We are so grateful for the gift of prayer and revelation that helped us in our journey and we are grateful to continue our spiritual paths together in our marriage as we get sealed in the temple for all time and eternity.
