How We Met

7.11.2021

There were many occasions David and I could have met. Multiple times we missed each other by seconds, mutual friend connections or completely walked by missing meeting each other. The day after I arrived back home from Nashville celebrating my 23rd birthday, I mentioned to my roommate the disappointment it is to see so many broken relationships. The reason why I was not looking for anything at the moment as I had just recently graduated from college to focus on my career. I confided in her how I prayed that night before going to bed after our friends and I arrived back to our Airbnb. I cried and asked for God and my father in heaven, who I had just lost 6 months prior, to send me a man in the long future to meet, that will be a good friend, a good partner, a good man to my family, and foremost, a good father to our future children. A few hours later a man messaged me again through social media and my roommate mentioned he was a mutual friend. He had been messaging me for weeks and I had been making excuses to not see him. I was not interested in seeing anyone at the time. She suggested I should give him a chance; she did not know him very well, but he was her friend’s best friend and I recalled her always stating good things about him. Nevertheless, I met him at his house to watch a movie that afternoon. This man was sweet, caring, and truly a funny guy. We talked for 5 hours straight and did not watch a single minute of the movie or show. I can say that I cannot remember what we were watching since we were giving each other undivided attention. We talked about all the places we had been at, where we had been under the same roof and completely missed each other. . This man was so charismatic and sweet, he gave me a hug before opening the door to my car to head home. A gentleman. Little did I know that night that I had just met my future husband. My prayers were answered less than 24 hours later. I am a true believer that our great Almighty Father will listen to our prayers and create paths for us for our true happiness. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” -Matthew 7:7

The Proposal

9.3.23

We took an early 2nd year relationship anniversary trip to Hilton Head to relax and enjoy each others company. Earlier that summer we had talked about how I did not want a proposal with many people around that I knew, not because I did not love them, but because I wanted the moment to be private and did not want to be worried about the people surrounding and watching us. I had also mentioned that I did not want to get engaged at the beach because so many of my friends have had their story at the beach and that I wanted ours to be different and special. I had no suspicion, since we were on a beach, and I had made specific instructions on how I did not want our special moment to be there. That following Sunday we took a break from the beach at Hilton Head and headed to Savannah, GA which was only 45 mins away. I was so excited to see history and architecture in Savannah. After viewing all the beautiful architecture, we walked at Forsyth Park and decided to take some pictures around the beautiful scenery. We asked a group of girls around to take a picture of us and, before I knew it, I looked over and he was on one knee. He said to me “quieres casarte conmigo mi amor?” I said “YES” in a very ugly crying mode:’)
