My loves, Goodness knows everyone's summer plans have been put on an indefinite hold our wedding included (sort-of). We will have a five person legal ceremony on June 20th on our sailboat. Just enough people to get legally married and the maximum amount of people allowed to gather in one space during the pandemic. However, the part of the wedding ceremony that we were most looking forward to was having all our family and friends with us. The power of the ceremony to us is in having all our loved ones present to bear witness to our vows (yes, we're theatre artists). So! We are postponing our originally planned ceremony until we can have EVERYONE present. No one knows when this will be. It may be next summer. We'll make sure to let you all know. Infinite love and virtual hugs, Nan Tilghman & Joshua Blaisdell
We met while both studying performance art at Western Washington University - Josh in sound, Nan in acting. We share a love of hiking, skiing, photography, food, travel, art, music, pubs, boats and much more! Our first date was a day trip down to Seattle to visit SAM's Early Impressionist exhibit. After SAM we felt we needed another art museum so we wandered over to the Frye. We were so taken with an installation there that the docents had to kick us out when the museum closed! We've been inseparable ever since.
Ever since a particularly windy, rainy, cold - and delightful - camping trip down the Oregon Coast, we have slowly been visiting all the light houses along the West Coast. At the tip of the Olympic Peninsula, there is a strip of sand called the New Dungeness Spit. It's practically an island in the middle of the Straight of Juan de Fuca. At the end of the spit is a lighthouse. After a five mile hike out to the New Dungeness Spit Lighthouse and as a storm was building blocking our hike back to the mainland, Nan proposed. Josh said yes. We made it back to land.
