The love story of Carla and Chris begins with a cat and a Civil War reenactment photo. Before heading out West on a fire detail, Chris traveled to Northern Virginia to drop off his cat, Conan. On the night he was to depart, he saw Carla's profile on a dating app. She stood out to him: She was beautiful and seemed interesting, having included a photograph of herself dressed in an 1863 civilian impression! Carla recalls stumbling across Chris' profile and wondering whether or not she should match with him. Besides a few selfies, there wasn't much else he shared. Nonetheless, she found the mysterious bearded man to be dashingly handsome. After consulting a dear friend who shouted "Oh my God! He's so hot! Swipe 'yes!'" She did. Chris and Carla began a written correspondence, which evolved to phone calls, and an eventual perfect first date sharing bacon cheeseburgers and boozy milkshakes in Maryland. The saying, "When you know, you know," is true for the couple. They eloped and had a baby last year, and are thrilled to celebrate their love with you at a restaurant they hold dear to their hearts: They had their first date in Virginia at Off the Grid!
