“We’re getting married!”

The way to the heart is through the ‘ōpū… Kaliko and Nalea met while doing a school in April 2022 (although they did cross each others paths a few times as kids). One day Kaliko was eating poke, Nalea walked passed and her eyes got big, he laughed and offered her some. From then on they became friends, Kaliko made sure to always have poke and a bag of poi on him. Working in the lo’i patch one day, they shared their stories with one another: childhood, high school, etc. When Nalea shared her story, Kaliko had felt this strong feeling of “I need to protect her, always.” Their friendship continued to grow, as they got to know each other. They traveled around the west coast with Island Breeze together in 2022 and 2023. November 18, 2023, Kaliko and his ‘ohana flew up to Kansas City to officially meet Nalea and her ‘ohana and both families gave them their blessing to start dating. Their first date was at an NFL game, watching the Chiefs and the Eagles. January 2, 2024, Kaliko told Nalea they were doing a “photo shoot for his job”… and with the beautiful ocean surrounding them, Kaliko got down on one knee and asked Nalea to marry him, she said “YES!” They were filled with so much joy, love and tears (well one of them was filled with tears, I’ll let you guess who;) and that is why you are sitting here reading this. They are so very excited to celebrate this day with you and start their journey together!
