FAQs

Question

What is the attire for the ceremony?

Answer

To help preserve the reverence of the marriage sacrament and the tone of the celebration, we kindly ask guests to dress formally, with clean and modest attire. Please refrain from casual attire such as t-shirts, flip-flops, jeans, sandals, or visibly worn or stained clothing. It is encouraged to remove hats during the sacramental ceremony.

Question

What is expected from visitors and guests when attending an Orthodox ceremony?

Answer

Please refrain from applause, hooting, loud noises, and use of cellphones during the ceremonies. The Orthodox church recognizes the marriage ceremony as a sacred union of people that requires a prayerful and respectful atmosphere. However, after the ceremony is complete, please join us in celebration and rejoicing! The community of St. Nicholas and Ss. Peter & Paul is friendly and warm, if you have questions, please feel free to ask before or after service.

Question

Can we watch the wedding from home?

Answer

We are in the process of developing a livestream option for the Michigan wedding ceremony.

Question

Are children allowed to attend the ceremony and reception?

Answer

We warmly welcome children to celebrate with us! We believe weddings can be wonderful opportunities for young ones to experience a joyful, meaningful gathering and to practice courtesy and consideration in a lively setting. We kindly ask parents and caregivers to help prepare children for the ceremony and reception so everyone can enjoy the day together.

Question

Can I bring a guest or a plus one?

Answer

Due to space limitations, plus-ones are limited to those personally known to the bride and groom. Thank you for understanding!

Question

I waited too long to purchase my wedding gift. What should I do?

Answer

Please don’t feel any pressure—your presence is truly the greatest gift. If you would like to give something, we are always grateful for practical essentials such as gift cards or thoughtfully chosen household, decorative, or sentimental items.
