In 2017, Nakia and Dean first crossed paths as residents in Phase 3 at Florida A&M University (FAMU). Both navigating the excitement and challenges of campus life, they quickly formed a bond, finding comfort in each other’s company amidst the hustle of university life. The following year, in 2018, Nakia took on the role of a resident assistant (RA), joining Dean as his coworker. Their friendship grew stronger as they worked side by side, and soon, their colleagues began to affectionately refer to them as the “Work Husband and Wife” because of their close-knit dynamic and how they supported each other. One evening, Nakia invited Dean over for a casual game of Uno. What started as a simple hangout soon turned into something more meaningful. They laughed, shared stories, and discovered how much they enjoyed each other’s company. That night marked the beginning of a deeper connection between them. As Nakia’s birthday approached, Dean decided to take a leap. On April 12, 2018, just days before her special day, Dean asked Nakia to be his girlfriend. She said yes, and from that moment on, they embarked on a beautiful journey together, building a relationship filled with love, support, and shared dreams. They’ve been inseparable ever since, continuing to grow as partners in life and love. On August 17th, 2024, inside their favorite restaurant, Dean proposed, and Nakia said YES!
