Najawa and Kelsey were re-introduced at their five year high school reunion of all places. They sat across the table from one another and found common interests in music, food and travel. A few months later at a dinner meeting they both realized there was something worth exploring. After a few more “meetings “ and a personal art lesson at Barnes & Noble, they were able to read in between the lines.
In April 2018 Kelsey had the random idea of putting on an art show. The perfect way to package a proposal. For months he thought of ways to be the silent organizer of said show but realized Najawa is a little too witty and inquisitive to have things play out as intended. So a team of their closest friends helped plan to lay the foundation. The final step was to include the event planner herself, Najawa. Once she heard the idea, she jumped at the opportunity to navigate a new venture as well as use the platform to launch the “Nova Foundation” non profit. The Healing Component Art Expo took place on February 9th, 2019 in an effort to raise money for Nova’s first scholarship and launch Kelsey’s “Color Coded” coloring book. After a long night of celebrating some amazing artists Kelsey called the room of friends, family, and supporters to PROPOSE a toast.
