Our Story

Ron and Najah met on Christian Mingle. They proceeded to message one another nonstop and began a long distance relationship, her in the Chicago area, him near St. Louis. FIRST DATE HIGHLIGHTS (which took place over an entire weekend) Friday - Ron gave Najah a framed certificate of achievement "for being able to pronounce worcestershire." (She quietly decided to marry him then & there, but decided it was best to say nothing). Saturday - They bought tiny toy rubber hands at a cool art store. Yes. Tiny toy rubber hands. - They went to the Field Museum then sat by the freezing lake and let their sore feet dangle over the water. Sunday - Saturday night was supposed to be the last time they saw each other before Ron left Sunday morning, but they had had such a good time together that they agreed to wake up at 5:00 am to get breakfast. THE FIRST I LOVE YOU She said I love you first by accident. She was visiting him in St. Louis and she was expecting to wait an hour and half before he could pick her up from the train after work. But he surprised her by being there when she arrived. She rattled off a list of reasons why he was amazing and "I love you" popped out at the end. She was expecting a gentle lecture on why he wasn't ready to say it back. But he stopped her in the middle of the parking lot and said, "Look at me. I love you. I am in love with you." She melted, and grinned for the rest of the night. THE PROPOSAL She arrived with her family at Potter's Place in Naperville, thinking they were celebrating her stepfather receiving his clinical counseling license. But 15 minutes into dinner, her mother announced, "Najah, we aren't actually here to celebrate Mike. We're here to celebrate you." There was Ron standing on stage with his guitar. She burst into tears and listened to his proposal, a song he had written himself. In response, she choked out a yes between sobs and the restaurant erupted in applause. All this they owe to God, to Jesus Christ their Savior.
