How It All Went Down...

January 3, 2016

Najah: It all started with The Philadelphia Eagles and Malcolm Grant's birthday party. It was a Sunday, I was contemplating attending Malcolm's birthday party that I already told him I would attend. Hey...it was a Sunday and that's clean the house and cook the weekly meals day! Anyhoo, I went to the party where I was the only young lady in the basement with the guys. We drank, we laughed, I shared my story of why and how I am a Patriots and Eagles fan. I had a great afternoon. A few days later, I received a FB friend request from someone named Brandon. We chatted and became friends and now, we are getting married! Brandon: Najah’s version of events are pretty accurate. We did meet at Malcolm’s birthday gathering and discuss football and her reasons for being both a Patriots and Steelers fan. She was the only YOUNG lady in the basement hanging out with the guys and I found her to be very nice. She was talkative, informed and offered to get and open beers for me (she might deny this). While I was talking to her, I remember feeling like I NEEDED to know her. I knew the next day I was going to hope she was on Facebook and find (stalk) her. I did, she accepted the request shortly after. I kept getting notifications that “Najah A. Samuel is nearby.” Turns out, we lived and worked close to each other. That opened the door for conversation to happened and love to blossom.

The Proposal

Eating chicken with a fork...

It was a chill day, October 14, 2017, and the plan was to take Brandon for his first ever massage for his birthday. I took him to Hand and Stone in Blue Bell where he absolutely loved it! We had a couple of errands to run afterwards and then we were heading to 1532. On the way there, and before I picked up our dinner, he asked me to drop him off at his car which was on the block of 1532, as he needed to run home and feed Colby. When he returned, I was painting my nails watching tv. We started eating and since my nails were freshly painted, I was eating my chicken with a fork. I looked up and over at Brandon and he looked distant. When I asked him what was going on and what he was thinking about, he stood up and said, "I apologize if this is not the perfect time, but...it's the right time." Not knowing what he was talking about, I was staring at him while he proceeded towards me and ended up on bended knee...Super confused, he asked me to marry him. Being a child of the early 90's, naturally, I thought I was being Punked, to which Brandon told me I was not. Overheated, sweating and nervous, I said, "YES!"
