We met at Tabor in the fall of 2015 through a campus club called Catholic Jays. We went to church together as a group and met weekly. The following semester (2016) Johnny invited Naima to a bonfire with his friends. That night he told her he liked her and asked if she would give him a chance. She agreed to give it a try, but had no expectations. He planned a picnic for her on April 3, and they realized things were going great. Before summer break they agreed to keep talking and see what would happen. He spent that summer in Santa Fe and Naima in Mexico. During the summer they realized they were ready to make it official. On August 20, 2016 he asked her to be his girlfriend. You can say that the rest is history...

We went to California for Thanksgiving to visit his family. Johnny told Naima that his family was planning to take pictures on Saturday (28th) and that we would go to San Francisco. That morning we got ready and drove to San Francisco to tour around before the pictures. Around 2pm we headed to The Japanese Tea Garden for "family pictures." When we arrived, we were walking around and looking at the gardens. A photographer asked if he could take a picture of us and after, Johnny got on one knee. All of Johnny's family was there and Naima's family was able to witness the proposal through FaceTime. After the proposal we took pictures in the gardens, had dinner under the Golden Bridge, and then celebrated with family.
