In 2018, during their sophomore year at the Illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, they crossed paths in a chemistry lab. Xavier sat next to Nailah, and when it came time to choose partners, he asked her to be his. Trying to play it cool, she simply replied, “Yeah, that’s fine.” Neither of them knew then that one small “yes” would change everything. Every Wednesday before lab, they met in the library to go over assignments. Week by week, their friendship grew stronger. When the semester ended, they thought that might be the last time they would see each other—but fate had other plans. That spring, they ran into each other in the student center, and the conversations picked up right where they left off. Feelings started to grow, and even though Xavier wasn’t ready at first, it didn’t take long before his “I’m not looking for anything” turned into realizing he had found something worth holding onto. On March 7, 2018, while in Florida for Spring Break, Xavier asked Nailah to be his girlfriend, and their journey officially began. On June 9, 2021, they welcomed their beautiful daughter, who instantly became the center of their world and the greatest blessing they could ever receive. And on July 24, 2025, after six years of love, growth, and countless memories, Xavier got down on one knee and asked the question Nailah had been waiting for. With joyful tears, she said YES! 🥹💗 Now, they are counting down the days until they say “I do” and celebrate the next chapter of their story. From lab partners to life partners, they can’t wait to officially become husband and wife.
