Naikha's POV: I was spending summer in Orlando at my aunty Bedlyn's house. Having ran into Keke, my mom's friend from Haiti, he invited my sister and I to his house for sabbath lunch. While hanging out with the girls in Quessy's room, I needed to use the restroom. When I made my way downstairs, I saw two boys hanging in the living room and proceeded to ask them for directions to the bathroom. One of them promptly pointed me to a door indicating that it is the bathroom. it wasn't long before I realized that he sent me to the garage, rather than the bathroom; I guess that was his way of breaking the ice. A month later, I befriended him on Facebook. Bruno's POV: I had just graduated high school so there was a dinner in my honor at my aunt's house after church. Amongst the guests that day, I noticed that Obelle, an old classmate of mine from 5th grade was present with her little sister. Being such a shy person, I only said hello and refrained from interacting with the "new girls". As I was chilling with my cousin Belou, in the living room, this cute young lady approached us and asked for directions to the bathroom, my 17 year old self thought that the best way to flirt and start a conversation was by sending her to the wrong door (the garage) instead of the bathroom. A month later, I got a Facebook friend request from Naikha and that was the beginning of an amazing friendship. Becoming Friends: Naikha's POV: It wasn't long after I added Bruno on Facebook that he slid into my inbox to start friendly conversations. After chatting with him for a while, I realized that he was a cool person and we spoke almost daily, building an online friendship. We would talk about everything from politics, to the girls that he's interested in, and he even tried to play matchmaker with me and one of his friends. Bruno's POV: Unbeknownst to me that Naikha added pretty much everyone she met in Orlando on Facebook, I thought I was special and that was a sign for me to DM her and start a conversation. Our conversations were so interesting and easy going that talking with her became part of my daily routine and we started building what would be one of my most valued friendships. Out of The Friend Zone: Naikha's POV: Speaking with Bruno daily for six months straight made me feel like I was heading towards talking stage territory. I did not want a relationship at the time so I suggested that we went on a hiatus for a month. However, that did not work because the moment the one month hiatus ended, Bruno texted me on the first day of the following month. Fast forward after 1 year of friendship, we officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. Bruno's POV: Man oh Man! Talking to Nana all the time started to create some sparks that I did not know were there. The more I interacted with her, the more I began to admire things about her. However it wasn't until that I started hanging with her in person during her vacation trips to Orlando that I felt that I must capitalize on those feelings. The summer of my 18th birthday in 2012, I asked Naikha out and now we're here! The Proposal: Fast forward after years of friendship and love, Bruno felt that it was time to have the talk with Naikha's parents to ask her hand in marriage. After receiving their blessings with very little to no resistance, he started planning the perfect date with the help of the ones who know her best, her sister and her best friend. Considering that they both love being on the water, he planned a romantic dinner on a yacht, where they talked, played some of their favorite games, and enjoying a wonderful evening on the water. Towards the end of the night, Bruno bent the knee and asked the love of his life to spend forever with him and her response was "Yes", as you might have guessed.
