About Us:

In 2017, Matt and Nahomi were both living in Los Angeles. Matt was working as an Imagineer at Disneyland and Nahomi was completing her undergraduate degree at UCLA but their paths never crossed. A year later, Nahomi moved to the Midwest to begin a PhD program at the University of Chicago, and Matt stayed in California working as an electrical engineer. They spent the next three years living near each other’s childhood homes, completely unaware that the other existed. In 2020, Matt returned to the Midwest, changed careers, and began training to become a teacher. Two years later, he was teaching high school engineering classes in Blue Island, putting him just a few miles from Nahomi, and as luck would have it, within the radius of her Hinge match distance. The couple has been happily together ever since. But their nomadic lifestyle was still in full swing! In 2024, Matt and Nahomi moved to the Chicagoland suburbs after Matt returned to engineering. Tucked away in Streamwood, Nahomi wrote her dissertation, defended it (with honors), and most impressive of all, finally got her driver's license. Then, in 2025, Nahomi moved to Baltimore to complete a post-doc at Johns Hopkins and Matt stayed in Illinois. 2026 has just started but it is already full of yet more changes. Besides getting married and exploring what being husband and wife means for them, Matt and Nahomi will be moving yet again! This time, they are headed to New York where Nahomi is starting a tenure track assistant professorship at Hamilton College, one of the "Little Ivies." Finally, after years of moving around and exploring different career paths, this couple is settling down. Their wedding is an opportunity to bring the various parts of their life together, and celebrate their love, who they have each become, and the growth they will experience together. It is a joyous send off to Matt, Nahomi, and most importantly, their cats Berly and Buffy. Matt and Nahomi's love is grounded in trust, honesty, and, most importantly, the mundane - picking each other up from work, cuddling with their two little cats, going about their routine, running errands together, doing jigsaw puzzles, restoring old electronics, noting the birds they see, finding a good new recipe, opening up a new bottle of wine….. true love is in the little things.
