We invite our guests to wear traditional Indian attire to the ceremony and reception. Traditionally men wear a Kurta. This is a long tunic shirt/coat with what is called pajama pants these are typically light, loose fitting bottoms with a draw string. Women traditionally wear sarees or lehengas to the wedding. There are websites that you can purchase these items at various price points. A saree will traditionally come as a large piece of fabric and will need to be made into a blouse piece, there are several websites that will make them into a blouse for you, just be aware. If you wear a saree versus a lengha you will need a pettycoat to wear under. Whether you choose to wear Indian attire or Western attire we would ask that women not wear the color red or black. Feel free to reach out with any questions. Below are some websites: These are pre-folded sarees with pre made blouses I highly recommend these. You would not need a pettycoat for these, nor would you need to fold your own saree. https://oneminutesaree.com/ This one has blouses you can order with the saree. And kurtas for men. https://www.karmaplace.com/ You can get custom sarees, lehengas, and kurtas on Etsy for very reasonable prices as well.
Guests are welcome to change into semi-formal Western attire (suits, cocktail dresses) for the reception or can remain in their ceremony attire. We want you to be comfortable!
The ceremony is approximately 2 hours long. It is completely acceptable to leave the ceremony and take a break as necessary. It is not seen as rude to get up and leave if you need to, we just ask that you do so quietly.
