Nadia and Ethan matched on a dating app called Hinge in late December of 2020. After a couple weeks of texting, they made plans for a date after returning from their respective vacations. They met in person on a cold January night, with Nadia and Ethan braving near zero-degree weather to eat dinner together outside (although in a heated tent) at Lazy Dog restaurant in Vernon Hills. Perhaps fortuitously, after showing them to their table, the waiter forgot about them, and the two enjoyed a long stretch of uninterrupted conversation, becoming well-acquainted and discovering they grew up less than a mile away from each other, with Nadia and Ethan’s brother, Aaron, sharing mutual friends. Over the ensuing weeks, their relationship blossomed, as the couple continued to endure frigid temperatures and, in one case, a blizzard, to meet for their weekly dates, some of which were outdoors due to COVID restrictions. They look forward to sharing a, fittingly, outdoor wedding ceremony with family and friends this June.
