It was a dark and stormy Christmas Eve. The snow outside was piling up (yes, even in Seattle), but the Hanukah latkes were warm and the company lively. It was December 2018 and after nearly a year of bumping into each other at friends’ parties and assorted events, Nadav decided that what Laura was really missing in her life was some rich, homemade Shakshuka. Despite the fact that Laura does not particularly like Shakshuka, she said yes to a Christmas Day movie date.

Nadav took a two-phased approach to the proposal: Phase 1: Using glow-in-the-dark stars, Nadav taped a message on the bedroom ceiling. Although Laura originally mistook it for water damage when the lights were on, turning them off quickly revealed his question! Phase 2: A day later, en route to the backyard for an evening fire and a round of s’mores, Nadav slipped the ring box into the bag of marshmallows for Laura to find. And as they say, the rest is history!
