Thomas and I didn’t meet in a typical way. We connected through a Christian dating app called “Holy,” without many expectations at first. However, it didn’t take long for us to realize there was something special between us. Our first date was at the Mahoning Drive-In Theater. I was so nervous that I could barely eat, while Thomas arrived with such enthusiasm that I jokingly wondered if he had forgotten to put his car in park. We were supposed to watch Chucky and the Dolls movie, but we ended up spending most of the time talking and getting to know each other instead. As we spent more time together, I learned that Thomas works as an arborist, which connected naturally with my love for houseplants. It was one of the many ways we discovered shared interests. We also both enjoy thrifting and antiquing, appreciating the charm and history of items from eras we sometimes wish we had experienced ourselves. Another meaningful connection in our lives is our shared involvement in Blue Mountain Community Church, where we have established strong roots. It is especially significant to us that our pastor will be officiating our marriage. We are committed to building our relationship on a foundation of faith, with the intention of keeping God at the center of our marriage and raising our future children to know and follow Him. We are incredibly grateful that we both decided to take a chance on that simple app—because without it, our paths may never have crossed.
