Naana: For him it was love at first sight but for me, mmm not so much. We met at our church’s annual conference in Houston in 2016. There he was, a quite gentleman with the most heartwarming smile but of course I had to pretend that I had not seen him. We had little interaction, we just exchanged pleasantries. On the last day, he approached me and asked to take a picture with me. Afterwards, he requested for my phone number to send the picture to me and I played along. For reasons best known to him, he never called me. Martin: I didn’t call because I was thinking and praying about it. You see, I had traveled from Chicago for the conference. Naana caught my attention the minute she walked into the conference room. Nobody seemed to know her or had heard of her. I thought to myself, who is this beauty and how do I get to know her. She was not lodging at the hotel, so I never got the opportunity to interact with her. She will just appear and disappear. She was a mystery. Naana: Haha! So fast forward the next year at the conference he told me he was planning on moving to Houston in a few months but I doubted him. Lo and behold, two months later, I came to church and there was the smile again. Wow! So he actually moved... Martin: One faithful day, I mastered the courage and asked her out but mehn, she turned it down quickly and very politely so I couldn’t get offended. I was very resilient, I went back to re-strategize. Months later, I asked her to assist me find a Father’s Day gift which she agreed to and after a long day of walking in the mall, she agreed to have dinner with me. CHECKMATE! Naana: Well! you can't blame a girl. After that day we spent hours talking on the phone and during one of those conversations he told me I was going to be his wife. Martin: She laughed...! Now here we are, She said yes and I can’t wait to say I do. We thank God for blessing us with each other. Knowing God is our center we cannot wait to start this next chapter together.
