Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Rachel Longa and Nicholas Fortier
Here is a list of some ways to get your weekend going. It's by no means exhaustive--there are tons of great shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars all throughout Mystic--but we wanted to offer some recommendations for stuff to do and places to eat and drink.

Mystic Seaport

75 Greenmanville Ave, Mystic, CT 06355
, (860) 572-0711

Mystic Seaport is a giant outdoor maritime museum. The wedding is actually taking place at the Seaport, but we recommend spending some extra time exploring, especially if you're into old boats. (You also get discounted admission during our wedding weekend!)

Williams Beach Park

1 Harry Austin Drive, Stonington, CT 06355
, (860) 536-3575

Williams Beach is a small park on the coast where you can take a dip. It's not too far from downtown Mystic, but you may need a car to get there...

Mystic Aquarium

Mystic Aquarium

Mystic Aquarium, Stonington, CT 06355

Do you love standing near fishes? If so, this is the place for you!

Peace Nature Sanctuary

Peace Nature Sanctuary

Mystic, CT 06355

Located along River Road (across the river from the Seaport) the forty-five acre Peace Sanctuary boasts beautiful river views, nicely maintained and marked trails.

Olde Mistick Village

27 Coogan Blvd, Mystic, CT 06355
, (860) 536-4941

Olde Mistick Village is an eclectic mix of tourist kitsch. You can browse through strange specialty shops (like Bestemors Scandinavian Imports and Sticky Situations, the artisan honey store), stop at the Bleu Squid for a cupcake and a grilled cheese sandwich, or tie one on in the Jealous Monk's beer garden.

Vault Coffee Roasters

27 Coogan Boulevard, Stonington, CT 06355
, (860) 415-5045

Vault is a nice little independent cafe inside Olde Mistick Village--a quick walk from the Hilton and the HoJo.

Oyster Club

13 Water Street, Groton, CT 06355
, (860) 415-9266

This place is magical (if a bit fancy). We recommend lunch at the bar: oysters, chowder (they'll make it New England or Rhode Island style), bread and butter, and chardonnay. There's also the treehouse out back, which is an outdoor bar annex with a more casual clam shack vibe.

Spicer Mansion Speakeasy

15 Elm Street, Groton, CT 06355
, (860) 245-4621

The Spicer Mansion is a super swanky inn and restaurant with a speakeasy in the basement. Old-school cocktails with a modern, exclusive twist.

Grass & Bone

24 East Main Street, Stonington, CT 06355
, (860) 245-4814

Grass and Bone is more of a lunch spot with meat-forward fare, in the same restaurant family as Oyster Club and Engine Room (all fantastic).

Engine Room

14 Holmes Street, Stonington, CT 06355
, (860) 415-8117

Engine room is a boisterous upscale-pub type place in the same family with Oyster Club and Grass and Bone; the food is delicious, and the beer list is solid.

S&P Oyster Co.

1 Holmes Street, Stonington, CT 06355
, (860) 536-2674

This is an old-school New England seafood standard with solid food and amazing views of the river.

Sea View Snack Bar

145 Greenmanville Avenue, Stonington, CT 06355
, (860) 269-4638

Legit riverside clam shack: picnic tables, plastic forks, river views. There's an ice cream shack next door, too.

The Harp and Hound

4 Pearl Street, Groton, CT 06355
, (860) 572-7778

A standard basement Irish Pub--as unfussy as it gets.
