Like many couples today, Sean and Carissa met online, on a site called Bumble. Sean saw Carissa on the App several times and swiped right each time, but it wasn't until Carissa swiped right on Sean that their story began. Their earliest conversations came at a time while Sean was vacationing in Hawaii with his family. He had no idea of Carissa's love of Hawaii and would send her a picture of the sunrise each morning. After a few weeks of texting back and forth, they decided to finally meet in person. They met at a local lakefront called Rio for a walk. Sean arrived early and sat at a bench until Carissa arrived. When he saw her for the first time he recognized her immediately and couldn't stop smiling. They walked along the lake's path talking about anything and everything. After two laps, they decided to sit together on one of the park benches to continue their conversation. Their conversation continued for hours and flowed with ease. At the end of their date Sean walked Carissa to her car. They said goodbye, promised to meet again for another date, and shared their first kiss. To this day Carissa and Sean walk the lakefront at Rio often and think back fondly of their first date.

One of Sean and Carissa's early dates was to the roller rink. Carissa's sport in grade school was roller skating, and she wanted to share her love of skating with Sean. Sean hadn't been roller skating since he was in elementary school. Needless to say, he wasn't the best skater. During one of the many breaks he had to take on their date, Sean looked out at the rink to see Carissa having the best time in the moment dancing and skating to the music being played. It was in this moment that Sean knew he loved Carissa deeply. Sean decided he wanted to ask Carissa for her hand in marriage at the place he knew he loved her for the first time. He asked for her parents' blessing during their trip to Newburgh over Thanksgiving in 2019 and picked out the perfect Tacori engagement ring. On Valentine's Day, one of Sean's gifts to Carissa was an upcoming date to the roller rink, the place where he fell in love with her. The following Sunday, February 16th, they went to the roller rink for their date. They skated for some time, with Sean only falling a couple times. At 3pm, Sean had scheduled with the DJ to play a slow song and they started to skate hand-in-hand. Sean pretended to fall, slid to one knee, and asked Carissa to spend the rest of her life with him. She said "Yes!"
