Somewhere in 2012 I was scrolling through Twitter when I got a “like” on one of the Bible verses I posted. I naturally took a look at his profile and shot him a message. We started talking as friends for a few months (this time period is up for debate, I say a few months, Johnny says 6 months). As we talked, we both outwardly spoke about our growing fondness of each other. At that point, I was scared and I “ran.” I knew no one would support us and I knew I was so young and not ready to be in such a long distance relationship. Saying goodbye was so difficult but I left it in the Lord’s hands and I tried to move on. We went our separate ways and got into different relationships. Unknowingly, God broke both of our respective relationships up within about 2 weeks of each other. I gave it a shot and reached out to him one last time (I knew he was my one that got away). He was reluctant to respond to me, but we were both so relieved to learn about each other’s recent break ups. God worked EVERYTHING out. We had trials in the almost 3 years of long distance and getting our parents past the idea that we were both real people. I remember telling my mom about him. I was uneasy about what both my parents would say. Her and I were driving home from the gym one night and I just flat out told her I really liked this guy and she laughed but tried to be supportive replying with “oh that’s nice but maybe you two could just be pen pals.” Months later Johnny worked out with my father to fly from California to Florida and surprise me during the summer of 2017. I was so shocked. There wasn’t one second of awkwardness between us, ever. My parents fell in love with him. My entire family flew to California the following New Year and had the best time meeting and getting to know his family. Everything was perfect! Our families love each other and God worked every worry out. We’re so blessed beyond our dreams with what He’s done so early in our lives. We can’t wait for forever together.
