Ashley: Our story begins August of 2022, when we met the first day of school at Baylor University. I had some friends I had kept in contact from Baylor Line camp earlier that summer, and when I went to meet up with them they had a boy named Myles with them. We all quickly became a big friend group and hung out all the time throughout freshmen year. Myles and I first only knew each other through the group, but clicked and grew to be best friends quite quickly. Myles: Ashley and I became such good friends so quickly. Being in the same friend group we hung out all the time and that is where we learned how similar we were. Evenutally we began to study together, go to the gym together, get food together, and a whole lot of other activities I let her drag me into. We always had great conversations and it led to us becoming best friends. I always loved hanging with Ashley Berman. Ashley: Countless times I had received the question, “Are you and Myles dating?” or “you and Myles are more than friends right?”. Truly, for awhile it never even came into either of our minds. We had such an amazing friendship between us and both were still so focused on the big life adjustment of college we didn’t often give it much more thought. I think after about the hundreth time of hearing it, the thought started to creep into my mind more and more. Myles: During sophomore year I spent a lot of time really thinking about if there was more to our friendship. I’m not sure if it was because Ashley was so amazing, or because she took me to get donuts on my birthday, but eventually I realized it was time to make a move. After a pep talk and pre game speech from my roommates, Grant and Grant, I decided to drive over to Ashley’s and ask her out on a date. She said yes and immedietaly fell in love with me…kidding. The look of utter shock on her face made me think that I had just made a huge mistake, and I was worried that I had ruined our friendship. She told me she needed to think about it, and thankfully the next day she texted me and said yes. Ashley: When Myles hit me with the idea of going on a date, I truly was shocked. Though I shouldn’t have been surprised because everyone had told us, it still didn’t feel real. At first I think the idea of ruining our friendship terrified me, but was urged by my parents and friends, it was worth a shot. Though it didn’t work out the first time, we went on to see God move in ways greater than we ever could’ve imagined. About a year and a half later, we gave a first date another shot, and this time it stuck. We haven’t admitted this to many people, but the day we officialy started dating we were already talking about getting married. Sophomore year I had joked back to my friends that if Myles and I ever dated we would get married, and that turned out to be the truth. Myles: Yes the first first date did not exactly work out how I planned, looking back it is funny to see how God was working in our lives to bring us together at the perfect time. I would not change anything about our story, and am just grateful that God has brought us to where we are now. We have both grown in so many ways since freshman year, but at the same time are so similar. Our relationship is built off a strong friendship that has always been there, and that is what I love the most. Somehow I feel like we both always knew this was going to workout. Ashley is the most amazing girl I have ever met, and I can not wait to marry her. Myles and Ashley: We can safely say one of the best chocies you can make in life is to date your best friend. It makes the good days even better, and the bad days a little more tolerable. We cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together, and so grateful for all of you who are a part of our story.
