It all started on the dance floor of a friend's wedding. Shane was busting out all his best dance moves to impress the ladies (or so he thinks). Despite these questionable dance moves, Mykenna decided to give him a chance and a slow dance or two. By the end of the night she thought, "his personality is better than his dance moves" and they exchanged numbers. With only 1 day available before Mykenna drove back down to Arizona, where she was living at the time, they had to plan the perfect first date. It started with Subway sandwiches and ended with chatting late into the night at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac on a rainy 4th of July. After the whirlwind of a first date, Mykenna headed back to Phoenix, AZ. A few messages turned into a weekly video calls to make dinner on Sunday nights, letters, virtual movie dates, plane rides to see each other, and endless adventures. In the summer of 2024, Mykenna decided to reduce that 2000 mile gap to about 50 when she accepted a call to teach at Winnebago Lutheran Academy. On January 18, 2025, Shane decided 50 miles was still too much. While walking at the Ledgeview Nature Center in Chilton, he rummaged through their old letters back and forth then handed Mykenna a special one that asked, "Will you marry me? Yes or no." After locating a pen that worked, she circled YES and Shane placed the most beautiful ring on her finger. We're so excited to celebrate our wedding with you!
