Carter and Mykenna met in college at the University of Minnesota. It was the spring semester of Carter’s freshman year and Mykenna’s sophomore year. Fate (and course registration) made them lab partners in—believe it or not—Biology of Sex. They reconnected the following fall, running into each other at a string of Gopher tailgates. What started as a series of classic college shenanigans turned into something more serious when Carter asked Mykenna to be his girlfriend one night in December 2017 at Sally’s. Little did she know, he was leaving for Wyoming the very next morning—for an entire month. They continued dating throughout college, even long-distance when Carter studied abroad in Dublin, Ireland (yes, Mykenna visited!). Together they’ve traveled to places like Mexico, Sheridan, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Scottsdale, Denver, Duluth, and Lutsen. In December 2024, they added a new member to their little family: a wild labradoodle named Alfie. He’s kept them on their toes—from adorable chaos to swallowing razor blades (he’s fine now, thankfully). Over Mykenna’s most recent spring break, Carter decided it was time to get down on one knee. With the help of his mom, he planned a surprise engagement that included both their families and Mykenna’s best friend. Now, these two are thrilled to start their biggest adventure yet—getting married and officially becoming The Pattison's.
